I’ve eaten and enjoyed Mediterranean food all my life.  When I was a child in the 1950s and 1960s my family lived in Libya and then in Turkey.  My mother was a vegetarian who cooked meat for the rest of the family but also made lots of salads and Mediterranean vegetable dishes and so that was the food I learned to cook from her and continued to cook when I left home.  Since Lo Jardinièr and I bought our garden here in 2004 and then moved to live here all year round in 2006 I’ve had the chance to grow the vegetables I love – aubergines, peppers, tomatoes, courgettes, onions and garlic, as well as the herbs which grow in gardens and in the wild here, thyme and rosemary and bay, especially.

So these are the recipes for the food we eat, made with the vegetables I write about on my garden blog, Olives and Artichokes.  I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
